After playing around with my new welder, which I got for Christmas, I managed to fabricate a heating tube and weld it into the chassis. This setup is the same as Porsche used on their 356A’s, with the collar and knob being from an early Beetle (shared this part with the 356). In essence I used a 20mm OD mild steel tube and cut a thread in the top to accept the collar. The screw top then raised or lowers the internal mechanism, which in turn pulls / releases the cables attached to the heat exchangers.
